What is a Repair Cafe?
The repair cafe program exists to provide a space where community members can bring items that would otherwise be thrown away to be diagnosed and (hopefully) repaired! Our goal is to reduce unnecessary waste and help develop repair skills for all participants at the cafe. Below is a video showing how repair cafes benefit and bring together the communities they’re in.
What services do we offer?
- Home appliance and tool repair (toasters, drills, fans, etc.)
- Clothes mending and sewing
- Basic bike repair (chain and cable adjustments, flat tires, etc.)
- Knife / tool sharpening
- NOTE: Due to venue restrictions we cannot service cars or other motorized vehicles
- More services on the way!!

How can I get involved?
Regardless of your skill level or area of expertise, your help is needed to make the Repair Cafe Vision a reality! To receive more information on volunteering, fill out this google form and we will get back to you with what you need to do next. Plus, all volunteers receive free lunch!
How does it work?
You bring it, we fix it! Simply show up with an item and our volunteers will help you understand what is wrong with it and how to fix it. If we have the parts and tools we will attempt to repair the item. Otherwise, we will help you figure out the next steps you need to take to make your item function again!
Where is it?
The cafe is being held in the Cal Poly Bonderson Center off of University Drive at Cal Poly SLO. Free parking is available in lot H2 all day Sunday. To get to lot H2, enter campus through the Highland Drive entrance and take a right on University Drive. Once you turn, the lot is immediately to your right. Below is a map you can use to navigate to the location.
